Nine quilts folded and stacked one on top of the other, photographed square on, so the whole picture is horizontal bands of patchwork and nothing else. No room, no table, no setting. Just the quilts, edge to edge, in portrait format.
Nine separate quilts, and it is worth knowing them apart before you open the bag. From the top: a diamond patchwork in reds, greens and creams. A pale quilt with a heart appliqued onto it. A band of green and gold zigzag. A cream quilt with a dark vine winding across it, leaves either side and red hearts with writing stitched on them. Small floral triangles. Teal and aqua diamonds. Gold, navy and paisley squares. Nine-patch blocks on cream. And at the base, yellow and green diamonds. Every single fabric is a different print, which is the point of the picture and also the reason it takes a while.
Find the fold lines first and the puzzle falls into nine strips. Where one quilt sits on the next there is a hard horizontal edge with a shadow under it, and those are the easiest pieces in the box. Eight of those lines run the full width. Get them in and you no longer have a 1000 piece puzzle, you have nine puzzles of about a hundred each.
Inside a strip, sort by print rather than by colour. The same mid green turns up as a leaf print, as a dot, as a batik and as a plain, and at piece scale the colour tells you nothing while the print tells you everything. The other cue people miss is the quilting itself: the stitched lines run in a known direction within each quilt, so a piece can be turned the right way up before you have any idea where it goes.
Cobble Hill are Canadian, based in Victoria, British Columbia, and they cut a random cut rather than a grid. The pieces are not in rows and columns, the shapes are irregular and no two are alike. On a picture built almost entirely from repeating blocks that is a real advantage, because shape keeps giving you information long after colour has stopped. One warning that comes from the brand itself: do not try to count the pieces to check they are all there, a random cut does not count out neatly. The board has a linen print texture, and the poster is in the box, which on this image is not optional.

Quilting and craft subjects are a small seam in the category but a loyal one, and they behave like a difficulty puzzle rather than a picture puzzle: what you are really buying is a few hundred pieces of pattern matching. If that is the appeal, the other one we carry is Quilting Craft Room, which puts the same fabrics in a room and is a good deal gentler for it. Both sit at 1000 pieces, which on our index of the market is close to half of every title tracked. Derived from multiple public data sources across retail, search and community platforms, refreshed 31 August 2026.
